Alhamdulillah. Wassalaatu wassalaamu ‘alaa rasoolillah wa as-haabihi ajma’een.
Truly, there has never been a righteous scholar, except that he has had enemies and slanderers! Indeed, even the noble Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was not spared from being insulted and was not free of enemies and slanderers! And this is the Sunnah of Allah subhanahu watha’ala that He allows such so that the saadiq (truthful) can be separated and clear from the kaadhib (liar) and haqq (truth) from baatil (falsehood)!
Sheikh Rabee’ ibn Hadee al Madkhali (hafidhahullah) could easily be the most criticized and defamed ‘Aalim of our times, may Allah Guide the misguided ones. I’m hoping to further clarify his position to the sincere knowledge seekers, InshaAllah. I would like to assume the best of my brothers and sisters who may have fallen into this trap, that they only did so in innocence and ignorance of the true state of affairs. BaarakAllahu feekum!
So for those who have doubts in their hearts about Al Allamah as-Sheikh Rabee’ ibn Hadee al Madkhalee (hafidhahullah), here are proofs of his soundness and the purity of his aqeedah and manhaj. There is great praise for him from those who have passed and those who are living among the senior ‘Ulema! Not one of all these ‘Ulema mention even the slightest error with him. In fact, they praise him especially for the very accusation that the jaahileen and munafiqeen put against him! This should suffice the enemies of the blessed Sheikh and those who have transgressed in gossip and spreading falsehood and lies about him!
To start with the three great Imaams of our era.
1. Imaam Abdullah ibn Baaz (rahimahullah)
2. Imaam Muhammad Ibn Uthaymeen (rahimahtullah)
3. Imaam Naasiruddeen Al Albaani (rahimahullah)
Note that they clearly mention that many speak ill of him and defame him because he dared to speak out clearly about popular figures. Also note that Imaam Albaani (rahimahullah) goes to the extent of giving Sheikh Rabee’ the status of the “flag bearer of Jarh and Ta’deel in these times” [Jarh wa Ta'deel is the sciences of dispraise and praise of individuals used by the Muhaditheen, i.e. scholars of Hadeeth]. SubhanAllah! After that let anyone dare question his authority to speak the truth regarding the Ahlul Hawaa wal Bid’ah (people of desires and innovation) and his authority to give naseehah (advice) and guidance to those who err.
No wonder the ikhwaanul muslimeen, soofee and others spread hatred against him. But that’s not it! Also included are those who are hidden under the garb of salafiyyah, because they cannot withstand taking sincere naseeha due to their kibr (pride), jahl (ignorance), tahazzub (partisanship, groupism) and ta-assub (fanaticism)! Wallaahul Musta’aan!

Let this also be a reminder for the sincere ones in seeking knowledge, to not hurry in being judgmental and to investigate a matter before making conclusions, especially with those matters pertaining to Deen and everything related to it. And I remind myself before reminding others. As for others, their affair is with Allah and I leave them with their opinions, doubts and desires, and I’m the last one to argue with them, for it is not the way of the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah to engage in argumentative debates/disputes.
I wish to remind ourselves that one of the ways that an Ummah gets destroyed is when they abandon/lose the righteous ‘Ulema among them. This is no way any call to Taqleed or exaggeration of veneration, and I separate myself from that! My dear brothers and sisters, I’m only intending to call all of us to return to the Ahlul Haqq wal ‘ilm for it is from the ways of the Salaf that they returned to their ‘Ulema on major issues and always took their naseeha, which the ‘Ulema offered with ‘ilm and hikmah.
